8th March is about celebrating women, lifting them up and talking about their successes. Christina, our co-founder, mother and entrepreneur, guides us through some of the most admirable qualities in women and perfect examples of women rocking them.
One of the main things that women are doing in the 21st Century is breaking any stereotype labelled on them.
In fact, women are champions at proving people wrong. They are now claiming their stake in what has been a previously male dominated world.
Firstly, if you haven’t already seen Serena William’s video going viral across social media then take a look now.
We love Serena’s unapologetic feminism that gives all women, sport or not, added determination, confidence and pride in their daily life.
One of our favourite Instagram mums is breaking the stereotype that pilots are male. Mothers can fly planes too! We love watch Iris’ adventures around the globe, raising her little one simultaneously.
Another heroic woman is Helene Darroze who has taken the culinary industry by storm. Managing restaurants and working as a chef is something generally seen as a male profession yet Helene has shown us that equality exists in the kitchen! Helene also has broken stereotypes by adopting two beautiful girls and raising them as a single mum in additional to her successful career.
At JetKids we have endless respect for those that work selflessly for others in order to make the world a place for everyone.
Did you know that JK Rowling in one of the rare billionaires to lose their billionaire status because she gave her money to charity? An estimated $160 million has been signed off to charitable giving. Having been a single mum on benefits before her books were published, she knows how much it is needed to have someone believe in you and support you.
Angelina Jolie is famous for her acting career. However she is also one of the most well known A Listers to dedicate herself to improving the plight of others. Her Foundations, set up in her and her children’s names, make a difference to children’s lives in impoverish countries. We certainly admire Jolie using her fame to make a difference to the world.
Not Just a Model – A Role Model
We have a bit of a girl crush on Chrissy Teigen over here. We love how she conducts herself in person and over social media. (Make sure you are following her Instagram stories if you are not already!) As a supermodel and wife of well-known singer John Legend, she is the perfect example to never judge a book by its cover.
Lastly, as an entrepreneur herself, Christina has been immensely inspired and driven forward by the success of Isabella Löwengrip.
Isabella founded a blog in 2005 which went to on to be Sweden’s largest blog. Her first company was founded when she was 16 years old. Now at the age of 28, she has been named Sweden’s most powerful business women. In other words, she is simply awesome.
Who inspires you? What other qualities in women should we be celebrating as part of International Women’s Day?
